Mr J. O’Brien continued Ins political addresses at the Totara Hall on Saturday evening, the Mayor (S.P. r/vans Esq..) occupying tbe chair. There was a large attendance and .Mr O’Brien’s address which lasted upwards of one and a-lialf hours was attentively listened to, applause being frrq uoilt. At "the conclusion of the address questions were invited but only one was forthcoming. Mr 13. Adam asked if the candidate would favour the elimination of the 1 liird issue on the ballot paper, viz.— State Purchase and Control. Mr O’Brien, —No, but be would be in favour of submitting the licensing question to preferential voting.
Mr J. Boa moved, and Mr D. Hillier seconded, a vote of thanks and confidence which was carried unanimously.
