THE CONSOLIDATED FUND,

WELLINGTON, October 20

Tiie Public Accounts for tbe quarter ended September 30 are gazetetd. The revenue and expenditure of the Consolidated Fund, ordinary revenue account, for the six months from April 1 to September 30, 192.1, are as follow : REVENUE. The revenue rceived amounted to £12.03-1,810. For the same period last year, the amount received was £10,923,920. there being thus an increase in revenue of £1,110,920, as compared with the- first six months of last year. The principal increases are: Customs, £291,583; railways, £238,205; stamps.

£202,408; Post and Telegraph, £IBB,080. The principal decreases are: Miscellaneous, £75,1 1 9 ; income tax, £22.377; land tax, £17,740. EXPENDITURE.

The total net expenditure for the (5 months was £12,989.101, as compared with £12,547,337 for tbe same period last year, there being thus an increase of £441,824. The principal increases are: Under special Acts £40,003; working railways, £317.990 (mostly due to increased wages and purchase of stores and material); Pensions Department, £27.703 ; naval defence £26,872 ; Department of Lands and Survey, £17.--141 ; Electoral Department. £17.546; Department of Agriculture £202,4 12. The principal decreases are : Post and Telegraph £88,896; Industries and Commerce £69,771. The excess of expenditure over income for the six months was 3T9;> 1,321, as compared with £1,023,417, for the same period last year.
