Mr Seddou visited tho Koiterangi district on Saturday and had an excellent meeting in the largo ball at night. Mr AY. A. Jamieson occupied the chair, and gave the candidate a very cordial introduction. Mr Seddon spoke for about an hour and a-lialf, dealing with farming and kindred subjects, and referring to local matters. There were not any questions. Air L. K. Morel proposed a vote of thanks and confidence, which was seconded by Mr R. Preston and carried very heartily by a prolonged acclamation.

CHARGE AND REPLY. BY TELEGRAPH—-PitESS ASSN., COPYRIGHT DARGAYJLLE, October 31. At Air Barnard, the Labour candidate’s meeting on Thursday here, he challenged the chairman of Mr Coates’ Committee, in referring to the manifesto re motherhood endowment, that was issued by Mr Coates, to place the Government's proposals before tho people before November 4th. Air Coates’ chairman sent a telegram, to Afr Coates as follows: “Afr Barnard has challenged mo publicly to wire Afr Coates askhiin to put forward his motherhood endowment, proposals before November 1 th. Seeing that Re lias already turned down two schemes proposed by tho Labour Party, and also to publish Mr Coates’ reply in the “North Auckland Times.”

Mr Coates sent a reply from Pahinlua as followsßeplying to your telegram re Afr Barnard’s challenge, f have repeatedly in the press throughmil the country in the course of my public exposition of tho Government’s policy, made it perfectly clear that the Government intend to make provision out of tho consolidated funds of the country for the financial assistance to people on the basic, wage who have families of two or more children, and ibis portion of the Government’s policy will he duly given effect to.—(Signed) J. 0.
