BABY SMOTHERED IN BED. AUCKLAND, October 30. The loss of a 11-days-old baby girl, the daughter of Mr and Mrs F. W. Scott, of Rapakura, was tiic subject of an inquest. Evidence was given that the mother had just returned with the child from a nursing home. She took the baby into bed with her. She fed it about I a.in., but about 5 a.m. woke up to find the child dead. Dr Page said that in his opinion death was due to suffocation, the hahv having evidently been smothered. A verdict of accidental death was returned.
