&ic LEE AN’S PICTURES, “THE SIN FLOOD”—TO-NIGHT. McLean’s Pictures present to-night night, “Tho Sin Flood,” a Goldwyn picture. The story tells of Stratton’s Cafo in the rix-er of Cottonia, tho meeting place of wealthy stock brokers. One sultry day, Frazer (Ralph Lewis) has a quarrel with Sxvift (John Stoppling) another cotton broker. Frazer’s clerk, Billy Bear (Richard Dix) is giving a littlo luncheon in the banquet room to Poppy (Helen Chad-xx-ick), a chorus girl and some oilier friends. With Swift is Williard Sharpe (Howard Davies), a politician, who is thought to have acquired money bysubstituting materials in building a dam above the city. On tho street corners of Cottonia, an itineront preacher, O'Neill (Janies Kirkwood) exhorts the people to righteousness. Ho is followed up hy two down-and-outers, xvho pass the hat after tho speaker finishes speaking, and buy drinks with the money they collect. They arc an actor, Higgins (Otto Hoffman), and an engineer, Nordling (William Orlamond). That afttrnoon, Frazer’s clerk, Billy, ox-erhears a conversation of importance in the office and goes o\ r er to his employer’s enemy, Swift, with tho information. With this inside tip, the two make a fortune, and Billy becomes an independent operator. Later Billy becomes engaged to Swift’s daughter. A fexv xx-eeks later a cloudburst hits tho city, and all these characters are drix-en into Stratton’s cafo by tho storm. The flood-proof doors are put up, and Stratton realises that they may he imprisoned a long time. Tho engineer figures out that within a definite period the air xvill bo exhausted and they xvill nil suffocate. Tho saloon oxviiet' serves drinks to tho croxvd. Suddenly the lights go out; then the stock ticker stops : tho exchange must ho flooded. Then the telephone goes dead. They have been imprisoned in a death trap, for the dam has given xx-ay and tho city is being flooded. Poppy, xvho had been listening at the door, enters. Billy and sho are united once more—in death, they boliex-c. The preacher calls upon tho group to join hands in a universal brotherhood. Facing death, they folloxv his lead, tell of their sins and are absolved by their comrades as they stand about in a circle and sing hymns. The air has heroine so vitiated that Frazer is on tht verge of suffocation. The others see that they will all go tho same way, and take a quick vote on whether they should throxvn open the doors and attempt to swim, the flood. They decide to try tho flood. The doors are thrown open. A miracle has happened! Tho flood has recoded! They are saved! The supports include a comedy and gazette, and music hy McLean's Orchestra.
