A meeting of Alangatoki settlers last night passed the following resolution:— “We stand behind the Hon. .1. 0. Coates in any action he takes in regard to the strike." Til A AIKS, Oct. (1. A. A. Ross, a Country Party candidate delivered his inaugural address last evening to a good attendance. A vote of colnftdeneo and thanks was declared carried. The aims of Ins party are to promote the welfare of primary industries. He stressed the iieed of agricultural hanks to help farmers finance. He objected to the further fostering of secondary industries, which forced a hurden on the community. Asked what, the Party would do in (he case of a no-confidence motion, the speaker said il was independent. and was not pledged to vole with anv party. PA HI ATP A. Oct G. Air Ransom, National candidate for Pahiatun seat, opened his campaign last night. He said the National Party would try to establish a national, .stable Government. He criticised the increased cost of administration of Government departments and the millin' of the Government to reimpo.se the income tax on wealthy farmers, which was not likely to eliminate class warfare. He received a vote of confide rice. WELLINGTON, October 0. Air AI ncAlillnn, the sitting Reform member for Tnuranga, opened his campaign here last night. He said lie stood not only as the Reform candidate, hut ns a supporter of any fused party after the elections. He said the County Party was composed of a few disgruntled persons who had failed to teach the late Prime .Minister his business.
Mr .MacMillan expressed liis adherence to the aims of the Reform, Party as outlined by the Prime Minister. A vote of thanks and confidence was carried unanimously.
