Although the director has incorporated some spectacular scenes into his production, their presence is logical and they an entirely subordinated to the story, which deals wilh the lives of the Deomsi.r, or judge, and other inhabitants ol the Isle of Alan, off the coast of Lapland. Conrad Nagel plays the role ol the youth lii I deemster, with .Mae Busch in the pari of Bessie Collisfor. ahotit whom most of the story centres, i’atsy Itnili .Miller, Creighton Hale. Hoharl liosworth, Do Wilt C. Jennings, and Evelyn Selhv have other important parts in the large supporting cast. The settings in which the drama is enacted, are all the quaint tillages and century-old stone castles of the fitly Isle. Castle I’ushou. largest structure on the island, was duplicated at the Cohhvyn studios for the picture. The stern, rocky eoast-liue of the Isle, and the beauty of the inland, is also shown in a number of remarkable photographic studies. The I editions, approved by a technical expert sent from England to assist Feast non. are said to lie almost the exact duplicates of the actual scenery ol the island. The story of a great love that gave witln.nl rpm-tioii and asked not even justice from the world of men.' Fir Hall Cairn l , the lamotrs author, has given the world a story that will thrill forever.
