The usefulness of the local Public Libray shout'd appeal to till who take an interest in the public welfare. A well found library is a necessary institution in any community and the better the library is the measure of the public- interest, in the institution. Patronage and support are necessary to ensure the progress of a library, and in considering the welfare of all, it is essential that such an institution should cater for the younger generation no loss enthusiastically than for the older readers. The local library committee has been exhibiting renewed interest in the welfare of the local institution of late with the result that new volumes are being added regularly to the library shelves. In addition a section is being organised specially for the younger generation, and it is proposed as soon as circumstances permit to set apart a room specially for the young folk. Tn this task of general reorganisation, it is lor the public as a whole, to assist in a practical way as far as possible. The membership of the institution is not as strong as it should he for the size of the community. and in particular, parents should direct the attention of their children to the value of good reading and so encourage a taste' for a pleasant recreation at the earliest opportunity. The funds of the institution have been well husbanded in the past, and the institution is not in need immediately of funds, hut to maintain n steady (low of now bonks, no incronsin<i inoinborsliij> is requisite. and public support in that direction would he most valuable, helpful alike to the financial side and an encouragement to the Committee to continue tin’ work it has taken in hand. There is another aspect of the building to which the committee requires also to turn its'attention. and that is the reorganisation of the museum exhibits.
