She left the home of her relatives at Whangarci ostensibly to visit other relatives at Kauri, and this morning her clothes were found under a bridge on the opposite side of the stream and as her Indy was clad in a nightgown it is thought, the deceased had a hallucination that, she was going to hod. The question of how long sheep can exi.-L without food was debated in an important nnpeiil by William David Williamson, the Tamnarunui manager of Dalgely’s Ltd., against a eonvielion by Mr Platts for alleged cruelty to sheep at the last Taimvtnmui fair. The appeal was heard before Mr Justice. Iferdman. Witnesses for the Crown stated that 132 sheep were left in a hare paddock at the saleyards for four days without food. Four or five animals died daily, and finally the •Mayor communicated with the police and had Ihe sheen removed. About 20 of the animals could not walk, and had lo be carried, while four or five more died that (lay. Tim evidence of experts for the de-l‘-oi-e -howed tp.ai sheep could go for lengthy periods without food, and suffer no inconvenience. Thcv had been known to be dug out of snow after having been buried for three weeks, and ,'lill live. Sheep were often in railway I rucks for three or four days.
