Pennsylvania which became ofloetivt at mid-night, involves 158,000 men workers, who decline to work unti some renewal of their contract, which expires to-night, has been negotiated. They have been unable to agree with the owners upon renewal. A walk-out will virtually place the padlock upon 82” rich mines and it involves approximately half a-million dependents, whoe ten thousand railwaymen will probably he thrown out of work. Eight thousand maintenance men. who will lie assessed to the extent ol a day’s pay for every two weeks for the union’s emergency fund remain at the pits by mutual consent.
