TIM"AH U-CHRLSTCH UIU'H ROAD RACE. Arrangements lor the big road race to be held on Saturday. September 19th. over a 112 mile course have been completed by the North Canterbury Centre of the New Zealand Athletic and Cycling and the nominations are coming in freely. The race has already attracted a considerable amount of interest from all parts of the Dominion and nominations and inquiries have been received front Auckland, Taranaki. Wellington. Poverty Bay. Marlborough. Canterbury. Otago. Westland, and Southland. It is also probable that riders from Australia will contest this year’s event. The prize money offered is the biggest. ever offered lor a road race held in the Dominion, totalling £350. of which the winner receives £11)0, and the N.Z. Road Champion (fastest time) £25. Blue Ribband. Gold Medal and a trip to Australia to compete in I. e Warrambool-Melbourne road race. ■Several old-timers have signified their intention of starting as a special prize has been offered for the first rider to fini'h, who competed in the rare in 1914, or prior to that date and the veteran. Harold Henderson of Palmerston North, who gained the fastest time honours in 1912 is again in active training in readiness for the race.
