Wellington City Empowering Bill was read a. second tjime. In moving the second reading of the Animals Protection Amendment Bill. Sir T. .MarKen/.ie said the Bill provided that if birds or animals were on the permanently protected list they should not bo transferred to the open list by the .Minister of Internal Affairs. Protection should ho revoked only by legislation. The powers given to til*' Minister were such that the Act might as well not, hi, passed and the present law was largely nullified by the autlioritv given to rangers to take protected creatures even from sanctuaries. I'll Bill was read a second lime. The Council adjourned at. n o'clock until 2. 30 to morrow. THE HOUSE. The House met at 3.30. The Prime .Minister fabled the report of the Royal Commission on the purchase ol the Poverty Bay Meat works by Vos toys, it being agreed that the discussion h-e taken at a later date. The evening sitting was occupied with a discussion on the Imprest Supple Bill No. 3 appropriating £1,994.800 in payment, of wages, salaries and contingencies which was passed. The House also agreed to the passing of the Rent Rest riel ion Coiif.inuiinee Bill, as lion. Anderson staled it was a mailer of urgency. The House rose at I. Hi till 2.30.
