ANGLO-FRENCH DEBTS
[Australia A N.Z. Cable Association.] LONDON, August 2G. The longer that the Anglo-French debt discussions continue, the more obvious it becomes that the liritish and American settlements hang together. The “Daily Telegraph’s" diplomatic correspondent hints that some means may lie found for co-ordinating the French payments. Meantime there is a new British minimum of fourteen millions annually from France being mentioned. The correspondent of the “Daily Telogaph” states Air Churchill would rather have this sum from France direct than twelve millions direct plus six millions extra of a nominal payment from the Dawes Plan receipts from Germany. Al. Caillaux, however felt that he was quite unable to agree, lie showed feelings of despondency, which were not dispelled by Ids luncheoning talks with Air Laughton and Air Chamberlain. The French Finance Minister had contemplated going hack to Paris this morning, but. he changed his mind, although, concludes the correspondent, any British concession below fourteen millions a year would seem incredible.
