HOKITIKA BOWLING CLUB
MONDAY, AUGUST 24tli. The annual meeting of members was held in the pavilion at 7.1-3 p.m. l’re.sent, Air G. H. Blank (President) in the chair and a small attendance of members. Apologies for absence were made for Messrs AA*. and J. AA'ilson. The minutes of last annual meeting were read and confirmed. The Chairman mooed, a vote of condolence be passed to Mr and Mrs AY. Wilson in the loss sustained by tho death of .Airs W. Duncan, who was the wife of the first President of the Club. ---Carried in silence. The annual report (published on Saturday) was read and received. The balance sheet, showing the debit balance liad been reduced, during the year from £ll4 8s 4d to £B9 Gs 9d, was received and adopted. Several routine matters were dealt with, the Secretary io reply. It was resolved that a letter of protest lie written to the Chairman of Directors of the Central Dairy Factory in connection with the smoke nuisance from the Factory. The following new members were nominated:—Messrs D. Stuart, AAA IT. Shannon. A. W. Dowell. P. Renton, S. .1. Irwin, R. Roberts, and C. P. Sellers. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted: President—Air D. Stevenson. Vice-President—Mr 11. A. Thompson. Secretary and Treasurer—Air A. E. Benjamin. Auditor—Air J. 11. AA’ilson. General Committee—Messrs T. AA'. Brtico, J. B. AA’ard, W. Braddon, G. H. Blank, E. Kearns, AA 7 . IT. Bishop, W. AA'ilson, J. J. Breeze, and J. Conning. Centre Delegate- Mr A. E. Benjamin. Selection Committee —Messrs Braddon. Blank and Benjamin. Ground Committee-—Messrs Braddon, Blank and Stevenson. Air Blank returned thanks for the support accorded him during the past year and congratulated the new President on his election. Air Stevenson took the chair and thanked members for the honor conferred, trusting the year would prove a successful one. Air Bruce offered a set of four measures as a trophy for a rink competition.—Received with thanks. A r otcs of thanks were passed by acclamation to the ladies, the auditor, the retiring President, the Secretary and the Press. The Secretary was instructed to arrange for the testing and stamping of such bowls requiring attention. Messrs Stevenson and Braddon were appointed a sub-committee to arrange the howls owned by the Club with a view to disposal to members. Tt was resolved to open the season on the first Saturday in October. A special vote was passed to Air Blank for his work in connection with the. scything of the green last season. Alter a discussion on the remit from the Centre in connection with a pairs tournament or champion of pairs champions, it was resolved to approve of the holding of a pairs tournament at Rttnaugo at the same time as the singles champion of champions is decided. It was resolved that the subscription he the same as last, year, viz. £2 2s if paid before 30th. November; £2 12s Gd if paid after that date. \ discussion followed on various matters in connection with the routine of the Club and the mooting terminated at 9.15 p in. with a vote of thanks to the- Chairman.
