[BY telegraph—-per press association.] THE COUNCIL. WELLINGTON, August 22. The Legislative Council met at 2.30 to-day. The Matamata County Council Empowering Bill, and the Wellington City Council Empowering Bill was received from the House and read a first time and referred to the Local Bills Committee. The Massey Burial Ground Bill, the Rotorua Borough Amendment Bill, the Housing Amendment Bill and the Samoa Shipping Bill were put through their filial stages and passed 1.1. out amendment. The Chattels Transfer Amendment Bill was reported from the Statute* Revision Committee with minor amendments. The Council adjourned tit 2.45 until 2.30 on Wednesday. THE HOUSE. On Assembly at 2.30 the House immediately went into committee of .supply to further consider the estimates when the following votes were passed: Education £2.833,800, National Provident Fund £22.751, Crown Law Office £5.010. Valuation Department £51,083, Scenery ]’reservation £21,092, Pension Department £193.510. The House rose at 11.45 till 2.30 on Tuesdav.
