The writer said, “Last Sunday afternoon I was coining down hill at Remtiera in my ear with three lady ! as.— tigers. It was evident to me that, he was quite tillable to see my ear. and a collision occurred. Immediately after the impact the driver made the fullest inquiries whether any of us had been injured and as to the extent of the damage. At once In' admitted full responsibility for tlie mishap and expressed his sincere regret for what hud happened. He insisted on being told whi: h garage would see mv ear, and on .Monday inoiniug f found lie had already telephoned to the garage and had given an nndeit.U jug to he responsible for the cost of all, repairs due to the impact. The writer concluded: “Me hear so much nowadays of' the road hog, the callous motorist who is prone to drier awnv if possible alter indicting damage, but w hat a contrast was here I The driver of the other ear at the time of the mishap and Inter acted in tin truest spirit of road chivalry, as a road gentleman in tho best sense ol the term, and I am only too pleased to he able to let you know of Hie little event.” Tt transpired that the drivel- in question was a member of the Council of the Association, and as he happened to he present while the* letter was read a spontaneous outburst of laughtei and applause greeted the recital oi lircTcilden action.
