[llY TELEGRAPH—PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.] AT AUCKLAND. AUCKLAND. Aug. 14. Favoured with line weather, large crowds watched the American warships to-day. Admiral Robison and two hundred officers left for Rotorua. They will ret uni to-morrow. The non-commis-sioned officers’ hall was held at the Town Hall in the evening, and was largely attended. The chief centre of attraction for the men in the evening was the Navy League at the Prince's YYharf. where dancing and oilier entertainments were provided. A great number took advantage of the tram services to visit the suburbs during the dav. ROTORUA. Aug. 14. Admiral Rubi-on and two hundred of the officers of the American Flcl arrived here at noon. They were receive dby the Mayor and councillors, and were entertained ill a great .Maori gathering at Ohinemuto. The welcome was most enthusiastic, the \i-imrs greatly enjoying themselves. AT CHRISTCHURCH. CHRISTCHURCH Aug. 11. The American Uicei visitor- are not being favoured by the weather. Following frost and a -unuv forenoon rain set in later and the balance ol the day was bitterly cold. Arising out of the* unpleasantness caused by the hoodlum element, the men had to return I > their ships at fi p.in. During the day a fair number visited the Addington Trots and some spent the time sight seeing and visiting in the morning. A large party were the guests of the Sumner Borough Council. Rear Admiral Scholie'd tendered a luncheon on hoard the Omaha to friends. A parly of officers took pari in a hare drive at Springfield, the hag I cing more than could he carried by those taking part. The first excursions to the country wen* provided I >-tlay lor tic 1 naval visitors, and visits were paid to Palmerston. Waikouait i, and .Middlemarsh. The weather is cold and wet. but the men are making the best ol ii. and are finding that the Dunedin citizens are capable ol extending a really warm welcome. The visitors were entertained at dances and private parties this evening. YiT.LI.IXGTOX FUNCTIONS. WELLINGTON. Aug. 11. The weather moderated a little todav. enabling some parlies ol officers and nun of the American Heel to visit some of the country districts, adjacent to Wellington. Admiral C.muiz and the -enior officers were guests to-day at the New Zealand Club, in which there was a representative gathering. Admiral Ciioniz acknowledged the hospitality, and said it was impossible to accept all the oilers made, and -till carry on the necessary work on the ships. I here were several private parties’ receptions. at which the officers and. men were guests. A big social event was the Citizens’ Ball in the Tow'll Hall.
