BUENOS AIRES AND PRINCE OF WALKS. The Executive Council of the C.'oniite Popular Argentine), has prepared the following programme of festivities m honour of the Prince of A\ ales, on the occasion of his forthcoming visit to Argentina. Public demonstration to receive the illustrious guest; public presentation to the Prince of a jewelled casket containing a volume with all the tributes expressed in the newspapers ot the country, together with the autographs received from all the leading people in the country. The placing of a bronze tablet on the British Clock Tower as a tribute to the progressive action of the British-owned railways in the development of all the sources of wealth of the country; homage to the British Mercantile Marine; presentation of an oil painting of the renowned English painter, Stephen Koek. who, during a 10 years’ residence in the country, has enriched pictorial art with Ids eleven works, which have been highly commended hV, the art critics ol the Argentine and Smith American newspapers; a public demonstration in honour of the Standard, doyen of the Argentine Press, and to its founders, Messrs Edward T. and Michael G. Mulliall. for their constant endeavours and initiative on behalf of the country; the unveiling of a bronze tablet to their memory. Two hundred thousand postcards with the photograph will he distributed among the Argentine people through the medium of Comite Popular; the National Congress will he solicited to erect a national monument to perpetrate the gratitude of the Argentine people for British capital and labour and their highly beneficial influence in all matters of Argentine pro-
gress. The Town Council of the City of Buenos Aires will he approached to name a street “Gran Bretana’ • and the Ministry of the Interior will he asked to issue a stamp commemorating the first centenary of the Treaty ol Commerce with England; public not ol placing a hroii/.e tablet in the British Chamber of Commerce on occasion of the celebration of the first centenary of the Treaty of Commerce with Fugland ; a popular banquet ol confraternity, with the attendance of the Prince of Wales; publication of a periodical and propaganda and printing UK).<>:;;» manifestos: collaboration and attendance of the Comite Popular Aigentiiio on all official acts. ” The visit of His Royal Highness will not he without iis favourable ell'ect. on trade, and it would appear that there is ample scope for improvement.
