AVEST LAND SUB-UNION
A meeting of the Judicial Committee of the above was held last evening. Present: Messrs Benjamin (chair). Lawn and Moore.
A report, was read from the referee (Mr Cuthush) of the F.xccLim-Kanici'i match last Salurday, stating he had ordered two players oil (he field lor
striking each till'd'. C. Plahlert lor striking Blank and the latter lor striking back, who failed to connect. Tu furtherance ot his report Mr Cuthush stated he had no doubt. There was a line-out. and the two players were opposite each other fourth men from the line, and that he was quite close to them. The two men were thou admitted and asked for an explanation. Both stated that they were first men in the line out, and had played in that position all the afternoon. Neither had been struck or struck at, and when ordered oil' they had no knowledge of the offence while the releree refused to enlighten them. AIV Mclvur (line judge) who was called in, stated that the two players were first on the line out, and that he saw no otrence committed. The Committee after consideration decided that in view of the Referee stating that the offenders wore playing opposite each other, fourth oil the line out, whereas they accepted the evidence that the two players named were first on the line-out at that particular time, and their total denial ol the charge, the Committee were of the opinion that a mistake had been made as to the actual offenders, and the charges against Blank and Plahlert were therefore dismissed.

Inangahua Sub-Union requested a Dittman Shield match on August 22nd which date it was agreed to accept, the Selector to be asked to pick a team on Saturday evening next. South Canterbury Union wrote accepting the guarantees of the Bullcr and AVest Coast Unions for matches in September, and stating they preferred to play at Greymouth on Saturday September 19th. It was resolved to notify the Bnller Union accordingly asking if they wished their match to he played on the AYednesdny or ti: Thursday prior to the match here. The Rugby Supporters’ Association wrote inquiring if the Union intended sending a team to play this season for the Seddon Shield. It was resolved to hold over this matter for a more representative meeting of delegates, and in the meantime to ascertain from the AVest Ia nd Sub-Union whether they expected their players would be available, and whether tliey could give assistance. and to what extent, in financing a tour. Christchurch Old Boys’ Club wrote i
inquiring what guarantees the Union was prepared to give for their intended visit to the Coast, and whether there was any objection to their filling vacancies from other Christchurch clubs. It was decided to offer fifty per cent, of the nett gate, and to offer no objection to their other proposal.
