To celebrate what is considered a great victory the members of the Soilmen’s Union will hold a procession today from the Trades Hall to the Shipping Office. Headed hv a hand the. men will carry the “Red” Elag and sing Communist songs. oEAMEX’S SETTLEMENT. .MELBOURNE, August 5. The agreement between the shipowners and Seamen’s Union will lx> signed to-day. Another decision reached by the committee was that the Disputes Committee comprising the local secretary of the Seamen’s Union a.nd shipowners branch should he set up at Melbourne, Sydney, Newcastle. Brisbane, Adelaide and Fremantle. These committeen to deal with all disputes as they arise and endeavour to settle them, expeditiously, so as not to interfere with the running of vessels. It is thought this localising of troubles will prevent their spreading to other centres. Central Conciliation Boards will he Set up in Melbourne and Sydney to which shall he referred all disputes not settled hv the local committees.

Picking-up will start at nine on Friday morning. A meeting of the Victorian branch of the Seamen’s Union approved of the ship owners proposal that the agreement lie operative for a period of two years. DEADLOCK SETTLED. CHRISTCHURCH. August 0. The deadlock concerning the discharging of the Penrlmoor and Penmorval was settled this morning, when the men agreed to accept the award rates for former and 2s lOd an hour for the Penmorval.
