Johnny Weismuller, of Chicago, in a handicap swim, broke the world's lunik for the hundred yards open style, doing it in ol 2-5 seconds. This is :!-o of a second better than the record held by himself. Conrad .Mila, "I Chicago, ill Hi" quarter mile backstroke, lowered the world’s record held by Blitz, ol Belgium. by l-o of a second, swimming the distance in li minutes and l-o secs. I.OXDOX. August 5. A report from Upsnla states Ante Borg swain, one thousand metres in 1 5 minutes I!) l-o seconds, which is claimed to be a world’s record. FRENCH WOMAN’S SWIM. PARIS, August 5. A Frocliwoman, Mademoiselle Sion, entered the water at Cape Grisncz this morning to swim the channel. She was compelled to abandon her attempt at 0.40 in the evening, when onlv a mile and a quarter from Dover, owing to the effects of the coldness of the water.
