The St. Columbia Church, Koiteratigt. was on Wednesday altcrnoon, tin- scene of a very pretty wedding, creating considerable interest, when Alice Ethel, tilth daughter of Mr and Mrs A. Jamieson, of Koiterangi. was married to John Whitten, elde-t son ol Mr and Mrs 11. Haile of Hokitika. 'The ceremony was conducted by the Rev T. Perkins, and partly choral, and Mrs Win Little, presiding at the organ, rendered the wedding march. 'The bride, who entered the church oil the arm of her brother, Mr W. A. Jamieson, who suhseuuently gave her away, looked charming in a handsome frock of white charmeuse with georgette and ostrich feather trimmings. Her tulle veil was worn mol) cap style and held in place by silver leaves. She also wore it beautiful pearl lu-i khiee. The -bower bouquet consisted of choicest hothouse blooms of exquisite beauty. Sin- was attended by her two sisters as bridesmaids. Xita and Ada, the former being daintily attired in hclitrnpe milled maroeniu relieved with darker shade and mob cap t•> match. and tlie latter prettily dressed in apricot milled maroeain with pearl trimmings and mob cap to match. Both carried beautiful bouquets. Miss May Kelly made a pretty little Mower girl and'looked very sweet in jade green colieiine with rose bud trimmings and nob cap. Mr W. Haile, brother of the bridegroom attended as best man, whil-t Mr L. Jamieson, brother ol the bride, acted as groomsman.
Immediately alter the ceremony the guests were entertained by the bride’s parents at the wedding breakfast which was held in the Ivoiterangi Hull. At the function several appropriate speeches were made and many toasts honoured, amongst the speakers being ti c Rev. Perkins. Messrs W . A. .1 :imiesun. 11. T. Parry. .1. Fleming. T. E<cleslield, P. dunes, and W. Haile. The presents to the .married couple were numerous and costly including nianv handsome cheques. Ihe bridegroom’s present to the bride was a gold w-ri-tlet watch, to the bridesmaids, gold armlets and to the flower girl, gold bracelet. The bride's present to the bridegroom was a travelling rug and suitcase. Later in the day the newly married couple left lor Chrislchurcli. eii route for a tour of the North Island where the honeymoon > s to lie spent. During the evening a social and dance given by the parents at the ball, v.ji - latgelv attended by residents from all over the district, the room despite recent additions, being unable [ to accommodate all the dancers at one time. The large assembly spoke volumes for respect and esteem in which the young couple are so widely held. The music was given by Mr W. Morris I and Mj- Kelly with extras by Mr and Miss Trough. Near the conclusion, at an early hour of the morning. Mr d. Fleming, in a few well-chosen words on behalf of the guests thanked the donors of the evening and contributed to the many good wishes all present had for the future welfare and happi ness of the bridal party,
