OPOSSUM SKINS.
Messrs Wright. Stephenson and Co., Ltd., of Dunedin, report having held a most satisfactory sale of opossum skins on the 24th. in.st., their catalogue totalling 5,00 Q skins. There was a very representative attendance of buyers, and competition was exceptionally animated lor all classes of skins, the total offering being practically cleared at auction at prices which were from two shillings to three shillings above last season’s rates. There has been a good deal of private selling going on in the country, hut front priies paid at auction it proves that the saleroom affords the best means of obtaining full market prices. The following were the ruling rates:—Super bines. Ills (id to IBs; first blues Ids (id to 10 s (id ; second blues 10s to 11s (id; super greys 10s to 17s; first greys 11s 0,1 to Us; second greys Os to 10s (id ; super blacks IBs (id to 10 (id; first black lOs Od to 12s; second black 7s Od to f!s: super browns Os Od to 10s 8d; first browns 8s to Os (id; second browns 0s to 7s; super reds 0s to Ids; first reds S.s to Os; second reds 7,s to is Od. Smnllsi/.ed skins, faulty, or damaged at correspondingly reduced rates.
