One evening Ser-geant-Major .Morris, who has just returned from India has supper with them. The eoiiversYitiou veers to Hindu magic, and he relates the strange talc of the monkey’s paw. which grants to its owner three wishes, but happy is lie who is content and a.sks for nothing, for the desires are granted by the monkey’s paw ill such a terrible way that the recipient would rather be without. . . .
