COLLIERY EXPLOSION. SYDNEY July 20. \ii explosion occurred at Ttothbury Colliery, near Cessnock. early this morning. Tliere were only two men in the mine at the time. Booth Symington (pumper), and William Crisp (Deputy). Symington was rescued unconscious. but an exhaustive search failed to reveal any trace ol Crisp. The explosion was so severe that it blew out one of ihe stoppings, demolishing sixty foot of brick wall. A ;u ,,r of men scarclied all the morning for the entombed man. hut the air was so had that they were compelled to leave ihe mine, which will be sealed up. There is little hope now of finding Crisn alive. So far there are no signs of fire. The explosion occurred eight hundred yards from the mouth of the tunnel. WOOL SALTS. SYDNEY, July 20. The wool sales here rosumj^, to-day after a suspension of - n«s¥ty three months. There was a full attendance of buyers, and a strong market ruled lor all the best Merino descriptions at prices showing an advance of five to 7A per cent on the previous sales. All other Merino descriptions, as well as comebacks, and cross-breds. showed ao change. Greasy Merino sold to 32Jd pier lb., comeback 21 i and crossbreds 191 d.
