U.S.A. FLEET.

[Australia & N.Z. Cable Association.]

UATTLKSII IP SEATTLE. .Inly IS. Tin* special representative o! the Australian Press Association ri'imnf: AYltile attention has been cent red upon tin l 25,01 if) representiitives ol I lie untie sex wlm unule up the personnel ot the t fleet, it must not he forgotten that there are also twelve young females who wear the navy blue, and will also set foot on Australian soil. 'I hose are the nurses on Ixmrd the Rebel, which is one of the most remarkable naval vessels afloat. These women, as much as any officer or blue-jacket, are “they of heroic stuff.” During, the journey they have eontrilmfed their full share to the welfare of the human element that makes up this mighty Armada. There have been many transfers ol ill persons to the “Relict.” and to the care of the nurses. They are smart and good-looking as was discernible to any eye when the Relief lay in Honolulu, and there is not a shadow of doubt the young men of Australia will see that f- their stay is a pleasant one. One of the most amusing incidents ol our trip to Australia occurred last night, and was related by the wireless expert. I.icut. Scliuell. in the Ward Room at breakfast this morning. He heard two amateurs idly eoutroversing over high trocpteucy sets. Amateui Number One, at .Melbourne, suddenly signalled to Amateur Number Iwo at Portland, Oregon. “Say.” be said. “1 understand the Seattle is due to dock here at three in the afternoon of .fitly 23rd. Will she do it?” “Anzacl" replied Portland, “when you see the Stars and Stripes run up the rudder end of the Seattle, you can set your _ watch at three o’clock, and make no B mistake about it!” “Jimmincy.” said -J' Melbourne, “and she is fifteen hundred miles away I” Our position is 3.7 degrees south. 13(5.31 degrees east, 1212 miles from Port Phillip. D 27 miles from the division point of the fleet, and approximately 1215 miles from Sydney..

(By Radio from battleship New Mexico. Special representative Australian Press Association).

July 19th. The Fleet divides at Cape Howe on the 22m1.

THE LATEST RADIO

(deceived this day at. it.JO n.m.! (My Radio from the Special Representative of the Australian Press Association aboard the Seattle.) SUNDAY. Under a summer like sky and in a warm sun the Heel is moving speedily along its course. In fact, in order to arrive at Melbourne and Sydney at the designed time, it will probably lie necessary for the speed to be reduced to 1) knots. At noon the position is 33.5-1 south, 160.57 east, and the distance from Port Philip is 872 miles. The distance from the fleet- and the division point is 587 miles. It must be remembered we are very near Sydney, but in order that both detachments arrive at approximately the same time, the whole fleet will continue to the rendezvous which is virtually equi-dis-tnnt from Melbourne and Sydney, thence dividing. Thus our distance from Sydney Heads in round figures is 800 miles.
