COURT OF INQUIRY OPEN. LONDON. July 17
Proceedings in the Coal Industry Court of Inquiry recemly appointed by the Government have been opened, but tbe Court adjourned till Monday, so as to enable the Miners’ Federation to reconsider ils decision not to participate in the inquiry. The Mining Owners' Association representatives were present. The Miners' Federation to-night informed the Court of Inquiry that the miners cannot participate in it- proceedings when the terms of reference and lhe constitution of the Court so obviously are designed to justify the present attack on mine workers’ standard of living.
