It was not too much to hope Unit the same men in commerce and industry, would win peace. The Duke of Connaught, who presided, paid a tribute to General Birdwood, whom he described as a British soldier, gentleman and friend ol the Empire.

Tho minors eventually decided to cease work, and tho colliery had lieen brought to a standstill.
