The House met at 2.30 p.m. On Mr Parry’s motion the Miners’ Phthisis Bill was introduced and read a iirst time. The Prime Minister and Mr Wilford (Leader of the Liberal Party) made statements in the House in the afternoon to the effect that the fusion negotiations had failed. Mr Wilford declared his followers were willing to forego Ministerial preference in order to secure a united front against the extreme elements, hut the Liberals insisted there must !>e a complete reconstruction and the formula ion of a proper national policy. The Government was not prepared to make any concessions. The debate on the Address-in-Reply was resumed l>y the Hon. Mr McLeod (Minister of Lands). Messrs Mcllvride and Sykes. The debate was adjourned on the motion of Air Savage and the House rose af 10.30 p.m-
