Guides was standing up in a carl, when the horse moved and Mr Geddes was thrown out falling on his lieod. lie was subsequently taken indoors, and was brought into the Tiniaru Hospital. M.r Geddes’s neck was broken ami he now lies in the hospital in a paralysed condition, but fully conscious.

Counsel, in the course of crossexamination, asked the witness in what year he made out a certain account. hut the man replied that he did not understand, and did not think he had hoard the' words liclore. You call hut 'vuh,' and I call it in broken English •year.’ ” The Connexional Secretary Committee of the. Methodist Church of New Zealand has decided, at next conference, to nominate the Rev. Rugby Pratt, of Palmerston North, to succeed the Rev S. La wry as Connoxionnl Secretary in 1927, when Mr Lawry will retire from all active work in the Church. Mr Lawry has been Connexional Secretary for fourteen years. In 1927 he will have been in ministerial work for fifty years. Before he entered the ministry in 1877. ho was specially educated for it by the Rev. J. B.
