j [Australia A N.Z. Cable Association ] LONDON, July I. In the final of the diamond Sculls J. 1 teres ford beat AY. Hoover, America, by three lengths. At Henley, in the semi-final of the Diamond Sculls, D. Gollan beat Al. Dot ton (France) by two lengths. The time was f) mins.

In the final, Meresford beat Gollan easily. The time was 8.28. Meresford. in an interview, said that he had reliquished the Philadelphia Gold Cup. which he had handed back to the American, Hoover, on the ground that the English Amateur Rowing Association insisted that the Diamond Sculls constituted the world’s amateur championship, and not the Philadelphia Cup, as claimed by the Americans. The weather was dull. The attendance was large for the finals. The results were:— ATsitors' Cup:—Third Trinity (Cambridge) heat Mrasenosc- (Oxford) by two lengths in "min 15 secs. Grand Cup:—beamier Club beat the Thames Club by three-quarters of a length in Gmin 53sees, a record for the course. Stewards’ Cup:—Third Trinity (Cambridge) beat Leander Club by two and a half lengths in “mins 27secs. Ladies’ Plate:—Lady Margaret Club (Cambridge) lieat Radley College by two lengths in 7inin 7sees. AA’yfold Cup:—Thames Club beat Selwyn College (Cambridge) by one and a quarter lengths in Trains b-jsecs. Thames Cup:—First Trinity (Cambridge) beat Leander Club by four lengths in Smius 7soes.
