[Australia A N.Z. Cable Association.] SYDNEY, July 5. At Sydney Stadium Charlie Purdic (<I.S.;), New Zealand, fought a twentyrounds drawn battle with Jimmy Allen (iJ.GJ). Although the light was colourless, and not- interesting. Purdic showed himself both last and clever, though his punches were unconvincing, the crowd on two accasious counting the
men out. Against a dilfeient style of boxer, however. Purdic would make a much better showing. MELBOURXE, July 5. Men Martin defeated Dirk Congress on points in a ten-rounds bout. Charlie Pilkington secured the verdict over Men McCarthy on points in a fight of a similar distance. JACK DEMPSEY. (Received this day at S n.m.) LONDON July 5. Jack Dempsey appeared in exhibition bouts at Mrightnn. He received deafening applause. He boxed Phil Scott and others and showed he has lost none of his old form.
