[Australia A X.X. Cable Association.] XKW YORK. July 2. Wills knocked out Weinert in the second round of their fifteen round bout. Harry Wills, the negro challenger for Dempsey’s title, knocked out Charley Weiner in the second round of the scheduled fifteen round light Wills outclassed Weinert from the first hell, and Weinert was finally felled by a right upper cut to the chin. Previously Wills sunk several mighty blacksmith slams, wrist deep in Weinert’x middle, taking the break out of Weinert. and making him gasp so violently that he could he heard ten rounds away from the ringside.
Weinert was greatly distressed after the knock-out. Tie was carried to Wills's corner, where the seconds of both men worked over him. Wills, although he was warned before the light against the practice of hugging his man close with his left, and pounding his kidneys with his right, soon had recourse to this violent, painful gesture. whereat Weinert screamed for the referee, and the crowd hooted Wills.
Weinert was slugged clear right out during the first round, and was badly punished throughout. Wills occasionally hitting though warned. Harry Greb retained the middleweight championship by defeating Mickey Walker, the welter-weight champion, in a fifteen-round fight, during which the fortunes varied, but Greb held the upper hand. Greb had Walker half-unconscious on the ropes in the fourteenth round, and would have put him out. hut he was too excited to deliver the finishing blow. The Greb-Walker bout was the most thrilling since the Dempsev-Firpo fight fought at tie same Park two years ago. Greb was the aggressor for the major part of the way. There were no knock downs. NEW YORK. July 3. Joe Lynch and Jack Sharkey fought a draw. Dave Shade knocked out Jimmy Slattery.
