Mr Noting (leader of the Reform section of the Fusion Conference) stated as requested hy both parties that the Conference. was resumed at. 8 p.lit. <m Saturday. All the delegates were present. when they again entered into a thoroughly earnest, friendly consideration of the question of fusion from several points of view. The Conference rose at 11.39 p.m. and the delegates will report to their respective principals. It is understood ihe Liberal Bart; will meet at- -I p.m. to-day.

DUNEDIN, dune 28. It was tin- body of Annie Maefarlane, a single woman. IB years ol age. which was washed up by the title at Lawyer's Head on Saturday morning. The deceased had been housekeeper for Air Vnuglrev, of .Mosgicl. She was
seen at the house on Wednesday last. Her movement s since then were not known. An impiest was opened on Saturday evening, when the evidence ol identilieatinn was given and the inquest was then adjourned till Monday morning. I) WISH STL A M Eli'S ROUGH TIME. AUCKLAND, dune 27. The Danish steamer Sierra Moivua eiirountered very rough weather on her run across the Pacific, bringing oil from Texas. During the heavy gale last Thursday, high seas continually came aboard, wrenched the rudder and broke the chain of the wheel gear. The steamer drilled helplessly lor an hour and a quarter, till repairs weie effected, which enabled her to resume her voyage. Chief Officer Johnson was injured, incapacitating him for the rest of the trip. POLICE TRANSFERS. CHRISTCHURCH, dune 27. Sub-1 nspcetor A. Cameron of Christchurch, has been promoted to the rank of Inspector, and is transferred to Gisborne. Senior-Sergeant d. A. Matthews. of Hamilton, has been promoted to the rank of Inspector Cameron at Christchurch. Sergeant 1). Hyland of Reefton. has been transferred to St. Albans. Sergeant A. (>uarterman, of St. Albans, has bene promoted to Seni-or-Sergeant and transferred to Dunedin. Senior-Sergeant I. H. Mate-son. of Dunedin, has been transferred to Ashburton, in place ot Senior-Sergeant D. Jackson. who retires on superannuation. .MOTOR SMASH. WELLINGTON, dune 29. About two o’clock this morning a motor ear plunged over a bank on Salamanca Road near Kelburn Tramway bridge, as n result of which a young man Mclntyre believed to be a resident of Hutt. was killed. Jack King of Webb Street was injured internally. Mrs King was injured in the 1 hack and a man named Helper suffered a broken nose. All the injured are suffering front shock. Residents of Salamanca Road were aroused bv Mrs King and on huirving down the road found the ear capsized with two men inside. Four rescuers lifted the car and extricated I Maclntyre dead and King unconscious.
Doctor, police and ambulance, were called, hut the rescuers meantime, were tillable to do more than shield the injured front the rain. Helpers stated the ear was moving slowly as there was no light at the corner. He did not know how the. accident happened. Tie party had spent the evening at a house in Kelburn.
