A Berlin correspondent says the German press goes to extremes in commenting on the French note. which will he answered by a request for further information in regard to matters which are described as conflicting with the League Covenant, while Fascist the extreme Nationalist organs blatantly call for unhesitating abandonment of the pact proposals. The Centre and Leftist, press just as vigorously urge Government to proceed with negotiations. Their attitude may lie .slimmed up in a simile sentence, the sooner there is a conference the better. As far as the Nationalist party is concerned it is believed it will oppose any negotiations until Cologne is evacuated and disarmament is finallv settled.
