THE REFORM PARTY. BY TEI.EGKP H—I’UESS ASSN., COPXIUoHI BLENHEIM, Juno 2. Referring to the recent Caucus of the Reform 'Party, Mr W. J. Girling. M.P.. who has returned from Wellington, said 1 1 io mem hers were very enthusiastic and ojitimi-tic. The proposal to enter into conversations with the l.iheral-Laliour Party witli a vciv to fusion impressed him a.s a genuine attempt to arrive at an understanding, though a large number of tlie Reform members considered that the Party would do better to continue a.s at present. Mr Girling added that it was advocated at tlie Caucus that the mum < the parly should be changed to the National Parly, lie had originally made this suggestion during his speech on the Addrcss-in-Reply in 1923. believing that it was highly desirable that there should bo a National Party in New Zealand, and it was on his motion that the fattens referred ihe proposed change of name to the Prime Minister for consideration.
