The Special alt no tion on Cass S(|oai on Saiurdav alteriimm was the senior game between Excelsiors and the Stars (Grey). The game was a fairly even one. hut the "in of the visitors "as solely due to the scoring ability oi Steel Hie All Black v, iiig-ilircc-quartor. who ,|i,l all the- s oi'ing lor the winners. He scored two tries and converted one. and towards the end oi the game pottjd a wry line goal. F.arly in the game lie essayed In drop a goal from just outside half-way near the line. The ki k was an immense oik- and went well past ilie posts, but was a lew cards wide of tin- mark. [I was noticeable throughout the game that the kicking of tlu> "hole of the visitors earned considerably further than tie kicks Ilf the local players, and this is a feature that reipiires attention anim; rovemeiit. Another notiiahle lentil re of the play was that one ot the lightest forwards on the ground was more tioti eably in the ruck and in the vail than any ot his heavier conireres. and lie kept on improving right, up to call ■ !' time, so that his condition must? have been of the best.
