IS HUDSON ALIVE? [by TELKORArn —TEIt PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WAIUATE, April 29. The police are still searching the Waitaki River, but one woman in Vaimate believes him to he alive. A stranger called at her house on Friday morning last for a cup of tea. He stated that he came from Kurnw (near AVharekuri), and he apologised for liis lack of appetite by saying that he had been badly knocked about, and had been sleeping out. He was young and well dressed, but he appeared to he* very weary, shaky and nervous, and lie had a number of fresh cuts on his face. He kept his hat over his eyes. His conversation appeared to he significant to the woman, ancl on leaving lie* picked up a bundle from a hedge, which, by its shape, may have concealed a rifle, and ho asked the direction to the .Main South Road. lie apparently approached her house across some paddocks, as he was not seen passing on the road. HUDSON STILL MISSING. OAMARU, April 29. No trace has yet been found of Philip Hudson, who is wanted on the charge of murdering Olive Rutherford at "Whareknri last. week.
