Aai outrage occurred at East .Malvern when, what is believed to he a bomb was exploded on the front verandah of a house owned and occupied by .Miss Dora Sclintuberg. So far the whole affair is shrouded in mystery. The efforts of Llie police at present are directed towards the tracing of a man and his wife named Waldron, who hurriedly vacated the house on AlotuJ.iy, without giving an explanation, though the lease had three weeks to run.

The police incline to the theory that the bomb was left hv some person with the intention of doing harm to the Waldron's, whom they believed to he still in occupation.

Miss Schaltzherg and a neighbour’s child were the only occupants ol the house at the time of the (Explosion hut beyond a fright and shock both were uninjured.

The terms of the new migration agreement concluded between the British Government and the Commonwealth have been announced by Aft- Bruce. The agreement piovides tor a sum ol twenty million sterling being made available to the States at interest of two per cent for the first five years and 5) per cent for the second five. This amount will he increased to thirtyfive millions if the three States of New South Wales, Victoria and West Australia decide to merge the existing land seitlmout agreements into a new agreement which has been entered into. The British Government is providing interest on the amount so advanced to the States to the extent ot one half for the first five years and one-third for the succeeding live. The balance ol the concession to the States is being provided by the Commonwealth.
