NEW lAIAIIGRATION AGREEMENT'
LONDON, Alarch 25. A New Zealand migration agreement has been signed and will become effective on the Ist of April for three years. It provides that juveniles between 17 and 19 at present paying 110 shillings u ill travel to New Zealand free, except boys not travelling with their parents. Ollier reductions are: Single women over 19 and married couples without families £1 (3 10s each to £ll each; single men over 19, £lO 10s to £l3 15s. On last year’s figures the arrangement means an additional cost to the Imperial Government of £BSOO. J \ PANES K POLITICS. TOKJO, Alarch 25. A| tense situation has develojxxl between the Lower House and the House of Peers over the Suffrage Bill. The Peers are seeking to amend the Bill on certain vital points, a deadlock being threatened. Public feeling runs high over the question. During yesterday’s session the bouses of a number of Peers were raided by a crowd of rowdies, considerable damage, being done to properties, and in consequence the Upper House refused to continue the discussion of the Bill until the Home Alinister satisfied the honour of the Upper House. The session should normally have concluded to-day, but the development necessitates a prolongation. CLAIM TO A DUIvEDOAr. LONDON, March 25. The House of Lords Committee on Privileges decided that Sir Edward Hamilton Seymour bad established bis claim to the Dukedom of Somerset, which lias been vacant since 1923. The decision hinged on whelior Colonel Francis Seymour was legally married in 1787 to Leonora Hudson, formerly the wife of a sailor. Francis romantically rescued Leonora when attacked in a lonely street.
Sir Edward Seymour proved Hudson died in Calcutta in 1780.

TRADES UNION REQUEST. LONDON. March 25. The General Council of Trade Union Congress passed a resolution calling cm the Government to re-open negotiations! with a view to establishing complete diplomatic recognition of the Soviet, and encouraging Anglo-Rus-sian trade by: the application of the Trade Facilities and Overseas Trade Acts. The resolution emphasises the importance of including Russia in the family of nations in order to ensure the peace of Eastern Europe. PENNY POSTAGE. LONDON. March 25. The Imperial Communications Committee of the Empire League adopted a resolution urging the early re-estab-lishment of Imperial penny postage on sentimental and commercial grounds.
