An onthtisinstic reception was given Mr S. S. Dean, manager, and through Kim, the A,II lilaek team by the Wellington Commercial Travellers to- ngh. A welcome was extended by the R'osident, Mr H. AA’rijglit; Mr J. Brown (President of tho Dominion Association), -Mr \V. Higgins, and Mrs Gtorge Dixon (manager of the l!K)o All Blacks). Mr Dean said the native team of V / ~ 1888 -blasccd the trail of New Zeii’and Rugby and the Fcrnlcnf. 'I he i'-'Oo team made the trail a well-beaten track, while the 11)24 team had made it into a broad highway. . Mr Dean, in responding, eulogised the exemplary conduct of the team, which had worldly upheld the honour and traditions of the Dominion throughout the tour. Now that they had carried the fernleaf through Great Britain as the Dominion emblem, he suggested the adoption of tho Fernlea! as the commercial emblem which should ho stamped on all primary produce leaving the Dominion, and also urged that a national song should be adopted for the Dominion. As the iesult of the trip through Canada, he was convinced trade relations between Cnnnd and New Zealand could he * developed to a. great advantage. During the gathering, it was soiled that seven All Black managers (live Bugby, one Soccer, and one rowing) were,' or had been .members of the Commercial Travellers’ Association.
