“OTHER. WOMEN'S CLOTHES.” TO-NIGHT 1 TO-NIGHT I

A new Hugo Ballin production “ Other Women’s Clothes,” which comes to Princess Theatre this evening, lias that elusive something known as “ atmosphere.” It abounds in pretty women in lovely clothes. Ala be 1 Ballin ,Raymond Bloomer, and Crawford Kent are the featured players. The synopsis of the story is Jacqueline Lee and licr pals, ’ Ellen and Bessie are employed as models by a fashionable modiste after returning to Xew York from an unsuccessful trip with a theatrical company. Ellen is delicate and in need of a change of climate, but lack of funds makes this impossible. Later she meets Barker Garrison, tbo extremely wealthy nephew of Airs Alontayiie who is immediately attracted by the girl’s air of refinement, and after discovering that she is not well off discusses with his friend Rupert Lewis tlio advisability of anonymously placing a large sum of money at Jacqueline’s disposal. This is accomplished through his solicitor, the girl being given to understand that she lias inherited the money from an old lady customer at tlio fashion store, since dead.

With her sudden acquisition of wealth Jacqueline rents and furnishes a beautiful house, and lives in sumptuous style, buying expensive clothes that she has so often longed for, Then Garrison learns of Jacequclino retaining his pocket book, and when later on he is drunk, lie drinks to the health of “ the old lady who made this party possible, Barker Garrison.” After the sensation caused by this utterance, Jacqueline demands of Barker the explanation of Lewis’ remarks and learns the true facts, that lie lias done this to help her, hut she gives up the house, money and everything, and disappears. Barker, with love in his heart, searches for her over three parts of the world and his subsequent adventures before ultimately finding her, form a thrilling portion of the picture. A strong supporting programme will support this glorious star, and the orchestra will render tlio incidental music.

“ THE BACK TRAIL ’’-TO-NIGHT

Persons who like picture stories of tlie rapidly moving life of the Western oat tie -country accompanied by a plot that is entirely plausible will find fine entertainment at the Westland Opera. House this evening, where “The Black Trial,” latest Universal picture with Jack Ilo.xie in the star part, is to he screened. The picture starts off rapidly and moves rapidly throughout to a dramatic conclusion. Sconicallv, this i.s one of Hoxio’s finest productions. A battle hewteeu cattle rustlers and a sheriff’s posse, a run-awny stage coach team, a drunken man shooting up a cow town, vigorous scenes in the picture, which, however, is not till of this variety, for there is a charming love elnient, and ail atonement lor wrong done to anneal to the more subtle emotions. The story is that of a man who is convinced hv a plotter that lie lias been guilty of crimes that have caused his father to die of a broken heart, leaving his wealth to an adopted daughter. At the plotter’s insistence this man consents to try and gain a son’s share of Ibis estate. They first visit the executor, who is convinced that the story ot lost memory is true. At the ranch it is learned that the foreman has designs on the girl and the estate, and the plot instigators decide that they will take the side of the girl. Through the story, from the start, moves a tramp, who manages to frustrate several attempts on the part of the ranch foreman. Bring as ihe result of a duel ill which lie had killed tlie foreman, the tramp discloses that he is the man who committed the crimes, anil that in a trench in Franee he changed identification tags with the man whose lost memory has made him a factor in tlie situation. Eugenia Gilbert lias the loading feminine role, and others prominently east are Claude Ray ton, William Lester, Alton Stone. AYilliam AfeCall, George Connors and Rat Harmon. Clifford Smith, who directed Hoxio in Ridgeway of Aloiilana,” directed “The Rack Trail.” which is entertaining because of its photographic excellence as well ~s hv reason of tlio gripping story.
