The (.1 reat War is now some years piast. Imt the obligations then entered into still remain. Alany ready promises were made to the men who went away, to the men who served. The country has been doing its bit, but though the war is o’er, the promises of the oast must be kept. Ihe people passed their word from platforms and pulpit, and that word must he honoured. .Just now the local R.S.A. is appeal-
ing for funds to help carry the completion of their flail another step> and -.hat appeal should not he in vain. Next Saturday the ladies’ committee will be conducting a Pound Day i» Re veil Street and all can help who care to. Gifts of commodities in any denominations of pounds will he most welcome. Articles ot various kinds will be on sale and donors may buy as well as give. Pound Day is a novelty here
and it should help to provide lumls to carry on the building programme which will give the.town a very tine asset in the Soldiers’ Hall and Club rooms in Sewell Street.
