The caudle 101 l on to a tin of benzine, a eonllngration resulting, and the shed bursting into flames. One lad, Jack Wanu, was burnt to death, while the other was seriously burnt.

Following on the civil action brought by George Ay.son against the Rev. S. Robertson Orr on Tuesday last at the -Magistrate’s Court, St. Andrew’s Church at Wellington held a specially summoned meeting yesterday for the purpose of considering the situation as it affected their Minister and his congregation. and the following resolution was passed unanimously; “That this meeting expresses its firm confidence in its Minister, and grave displeasure that lie should have been lmmisxed with persistent reports of impending trouble, followed by having to defend what they believe to he an unwarranted civil action on the very eve of his departure for America. 11 is preaching of righteousness. both for the public and individual citizen, has, in their opinion, brought upon the Rev. Orr a grave hardship, and they protest against its being legally possible that such actions as this last can wait so many months and then he the subject of a short service summons that entails both great inconvenience and undue hardship.”
Inter alia, a letter was read from the Director of Stanton’s Limited, who acted as Orr’s agent in the purchase of the ear. The writer stated he- valued the ear at about £IOO. and lie told Orr the battery was “out,” which is a shop term for exhausted. Orr understood him to mean that the battery was oul of the ear. though the writer did-not know this till the detectives came to him to trace the battery. Alter considering the- matter from a general point of view the session passed a resolution asking the- Brime Nlinis ic r whether any action could he taken to avoid a recurrence of actions similar to the one referred to in the case of ministers of religion or any reputable citiecu .
