Evidence for the defence has concluded in the Hobbs ease. Sir Curtis Bennett, addressing the Jury, referred to the absence of the Rajah, Sir llari Singh, whu was the real accuser and prosecutor in the case, hut the accused laul not been given an opportunity of confronting him in the box. The whole fabric of the case against Hobbs depended on the story of one of the biggest and cleverest scoundrels who ever gave evidence on behalf of the Crown. .Mr Travers Humphreys, on behalf of the Crown, said the prosecution would have liked to call Sir Mari Singh if it had been possible, hut what could lie proved was that he had never seen Hobbs in his. life.

The League of Nations should establish wage rules enabling fair competition.

The committee split into two groups, the majority consistmg ol live, v, hereof two are official Europeans, one an unofficial European, one an Indian official and one an Indian unofficial. The majority holds the new ((institution has not had enough trial yet. Ihe Dyarchy is working reasonably. and I lie majority suggests a number of administrative improvements intended to help India to learn the use of parliamentary institutions.

The minority consists of four Indian unofticials.
