A AIELDOURNE .MYSTERY. .MELBOURNE, .March 8. William Bent, ,a railway clerk, aged eighteen, was found unconscious with a gunshot wound in the head, on the :vad near l.ilydale. and later he died. Foul play is suspected. Concerning the death of Bent, the •police are seriously handicapped in the investigations owing to lack ut information regarding the movements of deceased on the previous night. Examination of the body showed the bullet, from a small calibre rifle, in the forehead, above the left eye. When found Bent was fully dressed. Two blood stained handkerchiefs were found nearby. There was blood on the coat from the lapel downwards, suggesting that lie received the wound while standing. Patches ol blood were found on the roadway some distance from where Bent was lying. He did not regain consciousness before he died. CONFERKXCE RESOLUTIONS. {Received this day at 8.30 a.m.) SYDNEY, Alarch 10. Among the resolutions adopted at the nunu-d conference o! the Australian Natives Association were the following: .“That all regalia of every description lie abandoned in every Parliament House, Court of Law, or other State Department; that- no further appointments with the exception of school teachers, he made to the civil service for a period of live years; that internal leans are a menace to industry and should he discontinued.”
