NEW BASIS AND RATES. AYELLINGTON, -March i). The basis of weight, according to design, has been replaced by maximum weight licensed to he carried by the vehicle. This, and the introduction of tho half-ton scales, lias been decided on as a result of the conference between the Dominion Alotor Carriers’ Association and the Minister of Public Works, on Friday. January 10th. Instead, therefore, of there being six classes, according to weight design, commencing at one ton. there are in the revised draft ten classes, commencing at the maximum load ot two tons, and extending to a maximum load of ten tons. The stale of fees has been revised accordingly. The new scale will he as Inflows:— Any motor lorry, which, with the maximum load it is licensed to eavij, exceeds: Per annum.

Alotor lorries engaged in the carriage of ami goods will be deemed to lie engaged solely in the carriage of passengers, or solely in the carriage ol .■noils, according to Hie extent of the Fee payable under the foregoing provisions' of this regulation, and in any sivh ease the fee payable shall be toe larger fee. ___
