THOUGHTS FOR THE TIMES
St. P.'.up’s. Altar of our Empire flung so wide; Sanctuary of freedom lor our race; Loyally wo stand fast by thy side, Ami hold thee in our tenderest embrace. Place on us the burden of your loss. That we as daughters may in love sustain. ~et us, like Simon come and lift the Cross, We cannot hear to think ol thee in pain. Glorious dead that in thy portals lie, Out of slumber speak to us to-day, Can we then in loyalty deny? Can we echo hack the answer “nay’ , J No! Not while the southern stars o’ersliadow This continent within the Southern Sea. Will we fail thv memory to hallow. And render aid when asked for such bv thee. C. W. C.
The main concern of the Empire today. comments an exchange, is that the great “ Church of St. Paul ” is in clanger; and that fact should evoke a symnathetie response among people in many lands. A fund has been opened for restoration purposes, and any local contributions received will he forwarded to the proper quarter.
