THE YEAR’S RETURNS. WELLINGTON. March 4. The Assistant-Director-Gencral of Health. Dr M. if. Watt, in reviewing the year's progress in regard to the health of the community, stated that but for the present epidemic of infantile paralysis, which commenced in November last, the year 1024 was uneventful so far as the incidence of infectious diseases are concerned. The returns for the twelve months ended Dec. 31st. 11)24. were (figures for 11)23 being in parenthesis):—Scarlet fever 1178 (1201). diphtheria 2722 (11)51). tuberculosis 1072 (1C”2), pneumonic influenza 182 (114 1). pneumonia 750 (78S).
