New regulations making provision for anieiidni.-ifts in the taxation law are notified. In the main they really amount to an overhaul of the existing regulations, and will he put in, use in tonnexion with the returns of income for the financial year ending March 31st, 1925. There are two of the new provisions, however, which arc of general interest. One prescribes for returns of income earned from farming on pastoral lands of the Crown, which were exempted last year, but were restored by the 1921 taxing measure, and the other embodies a suggestion of the Taxation Commission to enable the Commissioner of Taxes to arrive at the gross amount of income. For example. up to the present it has not been necessary to furnish information regarding dividends on company shares. This will he provided for in the new income-tax schedule.
